Spring Foray + Family Meal with Dr. Gordon Walker, Chef Kyle Mendenhall
Join Michael and Enso on a spring morning walk in one of Colorado’s riparian foothill forests. We are super lucky to be hosting our special friend and colleague, Dr. Gordon Walker [Fascinated by Fungi] on a educational and leisurely stroll. While usually early in the season for abundance, this will be unique opportunity for students to slow down, to sharpen their senses, and to ultimately deepen their understanding of the incredible diversity of fungi and flora usually hiding in plain site.
Dr. Gordon Walker short bio… after the successful publication of Passport to Fungi, Gordon is keen on eliminating myths and phobias while at the same time empowering students to be playful and UNSCARED. This will be the third or fourth time Michael and Gordon have led groups but this one proves to be the most intimate yet… We’re gonna eat some beautfiul food later in the evening.
That’s right, you heard me. After about 1 pm, students are encouraged to go home, rest and clean up, before driving to a private home nestled in the Boulder Foothills. We are hosting a family style, coursed meal focusing on spring mushrooms and ingredients. This will include an appetizer course usually consisting of an app and some small passed apps, followed by a main course usually consisting of a meat protein and a vegetarian option, and lastly a dessert course. The meal will be paired with wild foraged cider beverages crafted by our sweet friends (they are so excited to tell you more!) and is included in the price of the ticket.
