Mushrooms + Toast

DESCRIPTION Play hooky with wild mushroom enthusiast Michael Heim from Ensō Farm and Forage and Mara Rose of Hatch Lab. We’ll meet in Nederland, Colorado at 10:00 AM and carpool to a secret location in the foothills for a mushroom foray and a walk in the woods. When we’re finished, we hope to cook up some of the bounty and enjoy mushrooms and toast on picnic blankets in the forest.

You’ll learn about mushroom identification and, if we’re lucky (though it’s not at all guaranteed), we’ll locate a variety of medicinal and edible wild mushrooms. We’ll discuss mushroom anatomy and learn the tools for contrasting mushrooms that may be poisonous with those that may inspire a dinner party. You’ll return with some mushroom-hunting skills and a newfound appreciation for the role kingdom fungi plays in our dynamic environment.

Bring your positive attitude, your curiosity, a sack lunch and a water bottle, and your hiking apparel (long pants, hat, good footwear, a rain coat, and layers), as well as an awareness that we'll be walking at elevation for at least two hours. All participants should come prepared for weather in the high country and be in good physical condition. We hope you'll join us for this unique opportunity to slow down and look at nature differently, more carefully, and in community.

Capacity is strictly limited to 12 participants to ensure an intimate adventure for us all. Tickets are not refundable, but they are transferable. Register through eventbrite.
